How to Play
On Computer
- Click on a cell to select it and then click a number from the game's number palette to fill it in.
- To help with solving strategies, you can also place notes. Just select the cell and right-click numbers from the palette to add or remove notes.
- The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 subgrids that compose the grid (also called "boxes", "blocks", or "regions") contains all of the digits from 1 to 9.
- The puzzle starts with a partially completed grid, which you must fill in to solve.
On Mobile
- Tap on a cell to select it, then tap the number you wish to place in that cell from the on-screen number palette.
- For notes, long-press the number in the palette after selecting a cell to toggle note mode, allowing you to add or remove numbers as potential candidates.
- The goal remains the same: fill every row, column, and 3×3 box with the digits 1 through 9, without repeating any numbers within the row, column, or box.
- The game provides a partially filled grid, which you need to complete to solve the puzzle.
Tips and Tricks
- Start with the obvious moves first. Look for rows, columns, or blocks with the most numbers already filled in.
- Use the process of elimination. If a number can only go in one spot considering the current layout, place it.
- Practice pattern recognition. Identifying common patterns can help solve sections of the grid more efficiently.
- Don't guess — use logic. Sudoku is a game of logic, and every puzzle has a logical solution.
Controls
- Computer: Click to select cells and numbers, right-click for note-taking.
