Krishna Stories: The Shadow Demon Chhayasura

Krishna Stories make every evening magical, and the Krishna Stories about Vrindavan are always special. In these Krishna Stories, we learn about wonderful adventures, just like the one that happened on a quiet evening when the children of Vrindavan noticed something very strange. Long, dark shadows moved by themselves, even when no one was walking. The cows became scared, the birds stopped singing, and everyone wondered, "Who is making these scary shadows?" No one knew that a shadow monster was hiding nearby.
Little Krishna smiled because He knew the truth. A monster named Chhayasura had come to Vrindavan. Chhayasura was no ordinary monster, for he came from a very dark and scary place where light never reached. He had a special magic power. He could hide inside shadows, slipping unseen from one dark spot to another, so no one could ever catch him. He wanted to frighten the innocent people of Vrindavan, make everyone sad, and stop them from being happy.
As the sun went down on that strange evening, Chhayasura started making the shadows look big and scary near every house and path. He made the shadows make spooky noises and stretch out like giant hands, making the villagers close their doors in big fear. Balarama saw this weird trouble and told the elders that a dark power was at work, but even the strongest helpers could not figure out how to fight an enemy made completely of darkness.
The next morning, hoping to bring happy times back to the village, Krishna and His friends went to play near the forest. Suddenly, the bright sun got dim as the shadows around the trees grew bigger, colder, and darker. Chhayasura quietly came out from one of the shadows and tried to scare the children by making scary shapes. Krishna's friends got scared and stood close together, but Krishna stayed very calm and kept them safe.

Seeing them feel worried, Krishna softly told everyone, "Do not be scared. Darkness can never win when we have love and courage." His kind words and sweet smile made His friends feel safe again, taking away all their fear.
Then Krishna played His sweet flute. The lovely music filled the whole forest, echoing through the trees and making everyone feel very happy inside. As the happy sound spread everywhere, the dark shadows started getting smaller and losing their power. Chhayasura got weak because his dark magic could not stay in a place full of true joy, warmth, and light.
Mad and desperate, the angry monster tried one last time to hide in a deep shadow to run away. But Krishna's bright, shining light glowed all around Him, lighting up every single corner of the forest. With no dark spots left to hide in, Chhayasura was completely seen. Krishna walked up and gently touched the ground with His soft feet, sending a wave of bright energy that took away all the monster's power. Chhayasura finally understood that being good is always stronger than fear and that bright light can never lose to darkness.
Feeling sorry and amazed, he bowed to Krishna and left Vrindavan forever, running back to the dark places.

The children shouted with joy, and the cows happily went back to the fields as the warm sunshine came back. Birds sang sweet songs again, and everyone thanked Krishna for saving them from the shadow monster. From that day on, the people of Vrindavan remembered that no darkness can stay where Krishna's love shines.
Moral: Always be brave, kind, and honest. Just like Krishna beat Chhayasura, love and goodness can always beat fear and darkness.
