 On this day Swami Shraddhanand was born. February 22, 1856 in a village named Talwan in Jalandhar district of Punjab province. Swami Shraddhanand is counted among the famous great men of India. He was the leader of such great patriots ascetics, who dedicated their whole life to the propagation of Vedic religion.
1907-The first taxi metered cab operates in London.
1974-Pakistan recognized Bangladesh.
1996-Scientists discovered the 112th element in a research institute in Germany.
1999- India's renowned economist Jagdish Bhagwati was appointed to the post of head of Indian Political Economy Center at Columbia University.

BluSmart, Tata Power subsidiary sign agreement to source green power
Indian electric vehicle (EV) ride-hailing and charging infrastructure network BluSmart has signed a multi-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Trading Company Limited (TPTCL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, to source green power.
The 30 megawatt (MW) capacity will be sourced by TPTCL from Tata Power's 200 MW Solar power plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan and supplied to BluSmart.
This partnership with TPTCL will allow BluSmart to eliminate Scope 2 emissions from its existing 1.4 million square feet of EV charging infrastructure and future charging hubs.
Apart from around 6,000 EVs, BluSmart owns and operates 4,000 EV Chargers across its 35 EV charging superhubs spread across Delhi-NCR and Bangalore.
Recently, it crossed $55 million in the annual revenue run-rate and is growing at more than 100 per cent year-on-year.

Shashi Tharoor awarded top French honour for deepening India-France ties


Congress leader Shashi Tharoor was conferred the top French civilian honour 'Chevalier de la Legion d'honneur' at a ceremony in New Delhi.
Tharoor was given the honour, also called 'Knight of the Legion of Honour' by Gérard Larcher, Chairman of the French Senate, on behalf of the President of the French. Republic for his efforts to deepen the ties between India- France.
What is the Legion of Honour award?
The Légion d'Honneur (Legion of Honour) was instituted in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte and is given by the French Republic to people for their services to the country, regardless of their nationality. 
The Legion of Honour award is divided into five degrees - Knight, Officer, Commander, Grand Officer and Grand Cross, with the Grand Cross being the highest rank
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the 'Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour' by French President Emmaneul Macron during his visit to France last year.


Eminent Jurist Fali Nariman passes away


Eminent jurist and senior Supreme Court advocate Fali Nariman died. He was 95.
The noted jurist was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhusham in 2007.
Fali Nariman started his practice as lawyer at the Bombay High Court and later moved to Delhi.
He was appointed the Solicitor General of India in 1972, but he resigned in 1975 to protest then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's decision to declare Emergency.
The veteran advocate was also the President of the Bar Association from 1991 to 2010.
In his long career, Fali Nariman argued several landmark cases, including the National Judicial Appointments Commission case, which was struck down by the Supreme Court.
